You may be required to keep regular hours and actually work from company offices, so it is not just conducted from the comfort of your lounge.

The difficult part is to actually make that first step. These types of jobs are not actually advertised in newspapers, an individual would need to get in touch with the companies directly. Maybe get involved with a gaming forum and ask about to see if there are any opportunities there. The purpose being, with a wider number of people testing, the higher the likelihood that any problem that might have been missed will come to light.

While testing games, you will constantly be taking notes. These notes need to be clear, legible and logical. While working from home these notes and reports have to get back to the company on time, this enables the programmers to correct any bugs that might have been found.

Initially it seems as though a game is filled with bug after bug, and the individual may face an uphill struggle to make any headway. Even if it constantly causes crashes, you will be expected to remain focused. All of these bugs and glitches need to be found prior to going into production.

Testers play a vital role in the development of new games, but only the lucky few get taken on by the major companies. While learning how to become a game tester, you will still be working on games that are in the development stages, and you will be in close contact with the programmers and designers. They will need accurate, logical reports to track down and iron out any bugs that you will have found.
