Socialising In The 21st Century Gaming World

By Richard Hollins

The world has changed drastically over the last ten years and it is so different now to ten years ago in terms of kids growing up; we must wonder if this change has been good or bad. Although are kids are still playing with their friends when they get home from a long day at school, they are not going outside to play with them; instead they are connecting up with each other via online sites such as Facebook and Twitter or they are meeting up on games consoles and playing together online.

The problems that this may cause are yet to be seen as a kid comes home from school and plays Call of Duty for five hours. This is a disturbing game that encourages our kids to kill people all night long.

We really can't tell what this is doing for the social skills of our kids but the only good thing about it is the fact that our kids are able to talk to each other.

Computer and console gaming certainly has changed the health of the nation in some respects because there is a definite shift in the amount of real life sports that the younger games players physically take part in. If you hear a kid asking his or her friend to play football after school they will actually be talking about playing Pro Evolution soccer or FIFA instead of getting a real ball for a kick about.

Most games these days are rated according to age in the same way that movies are rated. The problem you have is that despite a game being clearly labelled as rated for an 18 year old it's the hard to be left out if you are younger than 18.

Most parents will take it for granted that their kids have to have the next in game or accessory.
