The Rewards You Can Get From Gaming

By John N. Sirois

If you thought that playing video games is bad for your children, it is time that you changed your opinion. Research has been showing that playing video games helps develop various skills in children and improves their co-ordination as well as reflexes. This should make all parents, teachers and elders happy. But then finding educational games is not easy.

If you are spending money on buying a video game, you have got to be sure that your child is interested and likes the game. It shouldn't be that you pay over 40$ and your child doesn't bother to play it at home at all.

It is better to do a thorough search on the internet and identify along with your children as to which educational games would be nice to buy. You could check out Leapfrog and their games which currently number about 40 games in the handheld system. These games are designed to teach children basic mathematics as well as phonics, alphabets and to recognize animals, colors and shapes etc.

It is very convenient for you to go in for a handheld system that can be connected to your TV where in the entire TV can be used as a part of the game console monitor. When your TV is in your living room, you will be able to let your kid play while keeping an eye on him as you do your jobs.

If you wish to go in for a computer based game, then you can look at Knowledge Adventure which has produced a series of educational games by the name Jumpstart. These are loaded on to the computer and contain lots of puzzles, games as well as theme based adventure games to teach the children.

The educational series contain a lot of tools that help you track the development of skills of your child and see the progress made by him with every successive attempt and learning. You will be able to get a progress report at the end of the game. This is not all you have a lot of workbooks and DVDs too for further work.

You can find educational games very easily in the local shops. Next time you visit the book shop you can look into the CD and DVD section or check them out at the children's toy shop too. The computer and electronic stores too store these games besides those shops that sell games exclusively. If you check online you will be able to pick up a very good bargain with a huge discount.

Now day's parents encourage the children to play educational games and do not think that it hampers their children. Instead they realize the benefit there lies in imparting education to the children while combining it with activity.
