Star Wars: The Old Republic is the Hottest Hit Online Game

By Adam Morgan

Set in the expansive Star Wars universe, Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) is truly a sight to behold. Taking cues from Mass Effect for its color scheme and style there is so much beauty in this game. As soon as you log in you will feel like you have truly stepped through a portal and into the Star Wars universe.

SWTOR is the one of the newest MMORPGs (massively-multiplayer online role-playing games) to grace the PC and it is incredible to say the least. Moving completely away from the general MMO genre, Star Wars: The Old Republic treads new ground by incorporating a massive, choice-based story line into the game.

In The Old Republic, each player will truly experience a different game and story, unlike WOW and most other MMOs, in which all players get essentially the same situations again and again.

You will also no longer need to pay a $15 monthly subscription fee as SWTOR is going Free to Play. You will still be able to play with your friends and act out your Star Wars universe fantasies while saving on the monthly subscription fee. You'll get quite a substantial amount of game play for free, as it will last until you reach Level 50. For only $15 you get the game along with a free month of premium access, for even bigger savings.

The creators of SWTOR are always updating the game and adding tons of new content. For example, they are about to introduce Cartel Coins, which allows you to unlock game items and get new features.

SWTOR is still new and fresh, but it has matured since its release in December 2011. So you will now be able to enjoy the game with others like you, without the annoying bugs or annoying people. Newcomers are welcomed by the true, dedicated, and loyal fans who have stuck around. This is the best possible situation for new players.

With dozens of planets to explore and space combat mini games, you will agree that The Old Republic is a massive game. Unfortunately, this last part is not as well fleshed out as well as it should have been. That minor downside shouldn't be enough to deter you from this game, and it may be fixed in a future update.

You get to choose from 8 different character classes. You can choose to fight for the Republic or the Empire. If you ever wanted to be a Jedi or a Sith and dance around with a lightsaber, slashing creatures left and right then this is most definitely the game for you. Once you reach Level 10, you will be able to specialize into one of 16 advanced classes. The choice of advanced class you get depends on what your original character class selection was.

You will start the game on a different planet and with different sets of powers and abilities, depending on whether you chose the Republic or the Empire. You will have a blast exploring this massive and dangerous world, whichever side you choose. After you've played a few hours of Star Wars: The Old Republic, you will never look at MMOs the same way again.
