A Very Simple Guide book to getting Star Wars: The Old Republic Credits

By Glenn Salvucci

If there's one thing MMORPGs and real life have in common, it's that they both require "participants" to have some sort of income to survive. Star Wars: The Old Republic is really no different in this manner. No doubt you will need gear upgrades, repairs, transportation and to craft items. All of these things are going to cost you credits. While leveling, these credits become especially important as you will be getting new armor frequently.

Earning credits can be a tedious chore, but I'm going to give you five simple SWTOR tips to help you on your way. Before you know it, you'll have a nice cushion of savings to get you all the items you will need and thus enjoy your gaming experience all the more.

Take Advantage of Gathering Skills: If you're familiar with any MMO, you're probably well aware of the "gathering" skills. Just about any RPG has it. To put it simply, it is the profession that includes the gathering of materials needed for crafting. Crafting skills can often be a money sink, so try to avoid wasting materials on them until you've reached a higher level. Take advantage of those gathering skills you've acquired by farming for materials. Many players have found more success from harvesting themselves rather than having their companions do it for them. There are four gathering skills in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Archaeology, Bioanalysis, Scavenging and Slicing. Archaeology allows you to locate imbued items like Lightsaber crystals and even ancient artifacts. With Bioanalysis you collect genetic materials from creatures and plants and Scavenging allows you to recover materials and parts from old or dilapidated technology. Slicing gives you the skills to access secured computer systems and lockboxes that can give you valuable data or schematics. Slicing is the preferred skill as it seems to be the most profitable of the gathering professions. However, if you do not wish to go that route, make sure you heavily farm whichever one you do choose. Take the materials you've gathered and sell them on the GTN (Galactic Trade Network) to other players.

Pick Up All Loot: Looting every single thing that drops will help increase your pile of credits. All items - even junk - have value. Pick up as much as you can and have your companions go off and sell the items. Your companions will actually make more money selling the items than you would.

Finish All Daily Space Missions: Daily space missions will also make you a good amount of credits. If you are diligent about completing them everyday, you can easily accumulate a nice cushion of credits in just a week.

Join Warzones: Warzones, a series of PVP games, can also earn players credits. Not only are they fun, but profitable too! On top of the credits earned, you will also receive experience points, commendations and valor.

Examine the Economy of Your Server: Every server's economy is unique. Check yours out and see what's lacking. Chances are, there's a demand that you can meet with just a little effort. A good place to start is to think about items that you need or needed during the leveling process. Finding which items are in demand, but lacking can really earn you a lot of credits. You suddenly become the sole supplier and always have a market to sell to.

Incorporating these five tips into your gaming routine will give you all the credits you will need to get whatever items and upgrades you want. Learning how to use the GTN to your advantage can make you a ton of credits. Find out what activities are the most fun for you and run with it.
