Starcraft 2 is a real time strategy game that was the sequel to the well known hit of Starcraft brood war. The original Starcraft has been the model of all real time strategy games after it due it's innovative race balances and micro and macro mechanics. It has also been widely adopted, in South Korea it is a national sport with many different leagues and matches are often streamed on TV. In North America and beyond Starcraft 2 has become one of the most mainstream games. There has been many media focuses on this game such as YouTube channels and sites such as IGN which has recently created it's own Starcraft league.
What does this really imply though? Starcraft 2 has already risen to be one of the biggest e-sports in North America and Asia. The Starcraft Terran legend "Boxer" has already converted into the Starcraft 2 pro-scene. Interestingly enough, the legend is not the world champion or even the runner-up. He is in the middle of the rankings and what this really demonstrates is how different Starcraft 2 is to Starcraft.
Starcraft 2 has major differences compared to the original. Although there maybe parallels between the two, they are entirely separate games. The original Starcraft had many flaws due to the development abilities during the 1990's era. We had moved on and two decades later the Starcraft sequel was born which featured many improvements such as the simplification of micro/macro and new design philosophies.
Therefore you cannot assume that strategies and tricks from the original can be sptransfered over. What this implies is that the game has to be rediscovered; this is exemplified by the recent main stream build orders which has been created. These build orders by the way were completely different from the original. Many strategies and tricks that have been found are also hidden away from mainstream players. This is where guides come in, these guides are written by dedicated players who constantly test out strategies. By using these guides you be ome up to date with the game with very little effort.
In game theory which is the study of how games are won, knowledge is a key part in winning your games. But often knowledge is only gained by the dedication to the game. So even though your opponents are not in the same skill level as you, they may still win due to the amount of time they put into that game. With Starcraft guides though, this factor can be eliminated.By giving you the knowledge you need to know, you can win your current games and allow you to be placed in the division which actually your skill level not the time you put into the game. Thus allowing you to enjoy the game even more.
