An Overview of the Rii Mini Wireless Keyboard

By Patrick Senecal

As declared on the packaging, the Rii is a mini keyboard. When I say mini keyboard, I am actually talking about , as it's not the same size as a regular computer keyboard. Measuring just 5.9 inches by 2.3 inches by 0.5 inches, this device is a midget compared with the usual 18in x 2in x 8in - and it's a lightweight at 3.2 oz.. It's light and tiny, which makes it great for people on the move because it's so easy to have with you. Typing is quite easy on this little keyboard, which fits easily between your hands.

Not only are you able to use the Rii Mini Wireles Keyboard with your personal computer, and your laptop computer, it's also a great accessory for your PS3 or wiki gaming systems. Wires are redundant with this mini keyboard's wireless capability, supplied by a Bluetooth USB receiver, so you can quickly connect to other wireless electronic gadgets. The Rii comes with the usual QWERTY layout, plus the convenience of a touchpad like those we know from laptops. In case the environment is not lit well, the Rii comes equipped with 26 LED lights. This device is supplied standard with two rechargeable lithium ion batteries, which allows it to run.

On Amazon, the Rii has gotten many reviews, most of them rating it 4 and 5 stars. However, as indicated by a quantity of 1,2 and 3 star votes, the product may at first seem fantastic but prove to be less so with time. One observation was that the keyboard didn't work well with an Ubuntu system beyond a range of 30 feet, but it was rather good within that. On the other hand, a range of 30 ft is fairly good. A delightful feature for an individual who has a multimedia application is that provison is made for control of a playlist and volume as well. Buttons that aren't frequently used are also found on this mini keyboard, which is superb since they are sometimes needed so it would be an inconvenience if they weren't there.

No item is perfect, and so there are several drawbacks that must be cited. This device's touchpad looks similar to that of a laptop, but it's not as precise, which makes it irritating at times. The touchpad likewise has trouble with recognizing taps; however, there are two mouse buttons, left and right, which can be used instead. Also remember that whilst it does have the QWERTY layout, the keys are positioned in a grid with straight lines vertically and horizontally, whereas typical keyboards have a bit of an offset in the vertical grids. It's not a real hassle, though; one gets used to it rather quick.

If you are searching for a mini keyboard that features a touch pad, you won't need to look further than the Rii Wireless Keyboard. Overall, the upsides significantly overshadow the few negatives, and the price is excellent.
