Learn How To Play Black Jack Like An Expert

By Joanna Schnaider

Learning how to play blackjack online may seem like a big ordeal when you're just starting out. Ever since the 1960s, the game has only grown in popularity. Today, now that the internet is so pervasive, this card game has become one of the most popular activities online. You can play like expert, so long as you invest a little time in learning the rules and taking advantage of a few basic tips. It can be easy to learn how to play blackjack, but it will take practice before you can consider yourself an expert.

The rules are simple: Your goal is to beat the dealer by making a hand as close to 21 as possible. You will be dealt a two card hard at the start of the round, and each card carries a point value. Numbered cards are worth their face value. Kings, Queens, and Jacks are worth 10 points. Aces, however, can be valued either 1 or 11. The easiest way to make 21 is to be dealt a face card, like a Jack, and an Ace. This is what's known as a natural.

You'll be dealt two cards for your initial hand. If you don't pull a natural, you'll have the option to Hit or Stay. Staying means you won't get anymore cards, and you'll be gambling that your current points will beat the dealer. If you choose to Hit, though, you'll get another card. But be careful, because if you get over 21 points, you'll lose the round! One of the smartest tips to keep in mind is to never take a Hit when your hand is worth 17 or more.

Card counting is a way to really up your game. There are a lot of different methods out there with varying levels of complexity and accuracy. The simplest methods, like Knockout, are easy to learn but aren't as accurate in predicting a hand's outcome as other more complex card counting methods. The more advanced methods like Omega II and Zen Count offer greater accuracy, but are more difficult to learn. The rules of this game don't prohibit card counting. It's the casinos that frown on the practice because it reduces the house edge. At an online casino, though, you can play at your own speed and practice any method that appeals to you without fear of being kicked out.

There are a few basic tips for how to play blackjack that even an expert will use in his or her strategy. One of the easiest tips to keep in mind is to assume that the dealer's down card is always worth 10 points. You can't see what it really is, so assuming it's worth the most points will give you a good idea of where the dealer's hand will go during play.

Another simple tip that can help you improve you blackjack prowess is to always split your hand if you're dealt two Aces. This turns you initial hand into two hands, giving you the chance of pulling a natural. With just these two tips you can start building your own expert blackjack strategy.

But one of the most important tips of all while you're learning how to play blackjack like an expert is practice, practice, practice! With enough practice, you'll soon know the rules perfectly, and even be able to develop your own expert strategies on how to come out ahead at your favorite online casino. Before too long, you could be passing on your tips to other beginners.
