The History Of Killing Floor Gaming Servers

By Alfonso Hinton

Killing Floor is a game hosted through a gameserver online. Having gone through many incarnations to get to its current form, this is a cooperative online horror game. Attracting gamers of all kinds, the Killing Floor dedicated server is now a highly advanced gameserver that has really come a long way. Essentially, this game, in 2004, started out as a demo, and is now an incredibly popular co-op horror survival game.

The game continued to steadily increase in popularity, going through several incarnations along the way. Different versions of the mod were released until it was realized that the game itself was popular enough to be marketed, retail, on its own footing. Now, the game, in its full version, with tons of amazing features is available through Valve or the freely downloadable software Stream.

As a solo mode on Killing Floor is now offered, you can play a one-player version of Killing Floor offline. As it is a brand new feature, it is only offered on the most recent version of the Killing Floor game. You can now play on the game server with up to six different people in the cooperative game mode, enhancing the ability for you to gather up all your friends and create a game session online.

There are a lot of achievements you receive while playing Killing Floor that you get from doing various things. These achievements, in the newest version of the game, can be saved and added to the overall "personality" of your character. This enhances your individual strengths, weaknesses, and areas where you have a strategic advantage in the game. Over 40 different achievements are available for you to obtain in the newest version of the game.

There are now, ready to attack you and your teammates, 9 different creatures or "specimens" that you must watch out for. As they will be after you and your teammates, is imperative that you know these creatures are lurking. Each individual can choose with achievements or so-called "perks", they'd like to play with in the cooperating environment. Allowing you to survive for longer, you can tailor the strengths of your team to best suit your situation.

Though it is cooperative in nature, this is essentially a first person shooter that is played in a team oriented fashion. You can create a truly unique gaming experience by selecting the types of creatures that will attack, the number of waves to expect, and more. You can now also purchase specialized Killing Floor dedicated server space. This allows for the ultimate personalization and customization of your gaming experience, and the servers can host up to 50 players at a time.

With the newest version you can now add your own modifications. Once you've met all the challenges set forth in the original game, you can create your own new levels. Put your creativity to the test and come up with fun and challenging new ways for people to try to figure out how to survive.
