Driving Car Game Unduly Criticized

By Vanesa Tyacke

Of the many different sorts of video games on the market today car games are probably the most popular. Even though this sort of game has been around for so many years now, the idea of getting behind that virtual steering wheel and driving as fast as you possibly can never seems to get old. Perhaps it has something to do with the difference between real and fantasy driving. In the actual world, driving tends to mean being stuck in traffic, keeping to the speed limit, and having consideration for your fellow driver. Not so in the game version!

On the other hand, those who are not fans of the games world often criticize racing games, claiming them to be repetitive and moronic. The opinions of these people are, with respect, not to be taken seriously, since they show substantial ignorance of the appeal of such games.

If you have never played car and driving games, you might suppose they are all fairly much the same but this is not at all so. A few games are based totally around racing track eventualities, while others are substantially different. There really is something for everyone with these video games.

Let??s take a brief look at some sub-genres of drive games. Of course, speeding round race tracks is fairly ordinary. Not to dismiss that sort, since it has many followers, but what about other sub-genres? For example, in a race the idea is to circle the track faster than the other vehicles, but without crashing. But take a game like Traffic Slam. Here the goal is quite different. Gamers are rated more highly if they crash into other cars in their path.

The opposite is true in On The Run. In this game, careful driving is need, but not at the expense of speed. Failure to drive rapid will lead to you being caught by a car that is in pursuit of you. If this car catches you it will ruin you, with the result being ??game over??.

Not all car games are just approximately driving fast. Some owners of real cars like to customize their automobiles. There is a virtual version of this in a game called Customize Your Ride. Here, gamers select from a list of car models but then alter them in various techniques, for example by painting their car a new colour, tinting the windows, and making all kinds of cool modifications.

A further sub-genre of these games involves mastery of certain techniques, or doing precise tasks to rack up scores. An example of this is Sim Taxi, which is a game wherein the participant does the job of a taxi driver. To advance in the game, you must find passengers, and take them to their place fastly but cautiously, that is with safety being paramount.

So, as must be stated, the world of car games is not at all limited or one-dimensional. Those who try to denigrate this perfectly valid form of leisure activity might consider trying it before asserting it to be of no worth.
