New eGuides On How To Play DVD On Wii

By Aaron Walters

The term Wii homebrew is about unlocking the Nintendo's Wii game console to access software that has never been authorized by Nintendo. The program achieves this by circumventing the Wii's copy protection and code signing set up. Generally speaking, it refers to the use of this gaming unit's various hardware, accessories and software for purposes beyond its normal factory settings. Layman's terms: unlocking the Wii's hidden potential.

When the Nintendo Wii was new, a good number of the hardcore gamers realized the observable lack of High Definition support, mass storage capability, DVD playback, and the obvious scarcity of a close knit online community. If the legendary heavy hitting games like Zelda and Super Mario Brothers were lacking, there would probably not have been enough reason for most gamers to pick up the other peripherals and add-ons. Then the Wii Homebrew was introduced, and the Nintendo Wii would never be the same again.

Breathing new life to your gaming console, mods and programs that unlock hidden potential of a gaming unit became a new fad. Homebrew became a household name. What started as a few curious and persistent hackers has become a massive community of developers, gamers and users searching for ways to bring some new amazing features to the aging console. Game emulation, DVD playback, and the ability to run Linux are but a few of the upgrades that were made possible with the Homebrew Channel.

The creators of the Nintendo Wii are very highly admired. They gave birth to various incredible games for its past gaming consoles. This holds true for the Wii. Perhaps this statement still stands. However, there is always a "BUT" to think about. Now what could that be? Remember, once upon a time there was Betamax then VHS came not long after this. Then the DVD player reigned supreme. Do you think your Wii would become obsolete a few years from now? Or, God forbid, obsolete in a few months? Have you heard of the spreading news about a new Wii 2 coming in the near future? Well it remains to be seen!

The Wii Homebrew download allows the user to access a few more cool new features. The Nintendo Company has always been a pioneer and trendsetter when it came to innovations and ideas on concepts, products and game play. Imagine having a better and advanced gaming console which allows you to enjoy more games from other platforms, an emulator for lack of a better term. It is a win win situation.

Installing your own Wii DVD is something that is easy to acquire. However the danger of "bricking" or turning your gaming unit into an expensive paper weight is still a danger to be vigilant about. If a Wii owner chooses to go with hard modification, this means opening the unit to install a chip, there is a high possibility of voiding the warranty. Going for a soft mod or downloading a program is more popular and safe. There are pros and cons. The choice is always yours to make.

Latest Game Review

By Jessie Christensen

The latest game Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 has a fabulous looking. The graphics and the animations are great. But what we are looking for is more than just good graphics. The game experience is too weak. The story telling of the game is not enough. It makes the game a task of repetition of combats. No matter how beautiful it is, if there is no engaging story behind to give it meanings, it will not be very entertaining for a long time.

Good graphics and special effects used to be enough to make a game popular, but not anymore. Serious gamers now look for good story telling games which allow them to experience an surreal adventure rather than pointless key pressings. I would say that the Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 is quite weak in doing so. The story is not well constructed enough and a bit too boring, even to fans of Star Wars. I like the last episode better personally.

The Force Unleashed's combat is fun at the start, but begins to feel very uninspired as the hours go by. I mean, look, the inclusion of dismemberment is awesome, and the first few times you blast some Stormtroopers off a ledge with Force push, or send a trooper to his doom by convincing him to kill himself with Jedi Mind Trick are exactly what I'm looking for in this sort of game. It's just that there isn't enough outside of the combat to break up the pacing. Starkiller is always just mashing into wave after wave of soldiers, and it gets surprisingly mundane kicking so much ass all the time.

The enemy types are too few. With the simple combat and story, if the game had more different types of enemy to fight than it might buy back some points. But there are simply not enough. One thing worth noting is that some enemy can only killed with the lightsaber and some must be killed with the Force. The game designers tried to make the combat more interesting by mixing these enemies together. But instead of interesting, it makes it annoying.

The game is too short. I took 6 hours to finish the normal mode. Even though the game is so short, it still feels that the same things happened and repeated for too long. I think if it is not fun, it better end sooner. Why suffer boredom for the sake of finishing a game? Unless you are a game reviewer like me, I suggest you to uninstall the game as soon as you feel there is no point to continue.

Overall, the game is good looking. The world it presents is very beautiful but there is nothing else that makes the experience worthwhile.

How To Get Fit With Computer Games

By Richard Hollins

People would not have believed you a few years ago if you had told them that there were computer games which could help you to get physically fit. Those who played computer games all the time would not have been considered very healthy at all. Things have changed though and now it is possible to use this activity for getting into shape. So if you want to use computer games to help you get fit, then the following are just some of the ways that you can.

When it comes to computer games that will allow you to exercise, you will find that there are numerous ones available these days. The Wii is probably the best console to invest in for this. You can even find games and accessories that will turn your living room into a home gym. With so much to choose from, you need to be careful about the choices you make.

Before you start any new exercise regime, you might want to get a check up at the doctors first. The same rule applies when getting fit with computer games.

It is important to get your heart rate up and your blood pumping if you want to get into shape. Boxing is one of the best games for this.

There are a number of computer games that can teach you how to do yoga if you want. As long as you remember that you are not going to be able to replace a competent teacher totally with a computer game.

Always make sure that the area around you is clear for exercise. You don't want to get injured or kick your computer out of the window.

You need more than to just buy these computer games in order to get in shape. You have to play them regularly and get into the habit. Start off slowly and build yourself up.

What Should You Put In Your Social Network Profile?

By Owen Jones

Everyone has heard of social networking web sites. Social networks such as MySpace and FaceBook. Most people who are on line all around the world have at least one account with one of these many, many social networks. They permit members to find long-lost friends, stay in touch with family and make new contacts in places or even countries that they have never visited

When you sign up to one of these social networking sites, you will get asked to fill in account details. These details have nothing to do with a bank account. Rather they are what most members call their 'profile'.

This profile can ask fairly detailed questions on the pretext that the more details you give, the easier it will be for your friends to find you, should they be searching.

Typical questions are name, age, sex, address, schools attended, location of workplace, musical interests, hobbies, likes, dislikes, Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail address book passwords and user names. They also want a photo.

They want your address book so that they can email your friends and tell them that you are now a member and offer them membership too. So, as you can see, it becomes vital to judge just how much detail it is prudent or you are willing to give away.

The first thing to bear in mind is: merely because a social networking website asks you for an answer to a question, do not feel that you have to answer it. For example, it is the case that if you add plenty of details and a photo, more members might recognize you and want to become friends, yet how many strangers do you want in your home town to know where you live, where you go to school or work and what you look like?

If you are worried that you may be simple for a predator to trace, lie about your location. For example, if you live in a small town, say you live in the nearest big city but make certain you put a matching zip or post code from that city too.

If you post a photo, it is almost certainly not a wise thing to put details of where you go and where you live. On the other hand you could provide those details so that friends can find you, yet use an avatar or cartoon to symbolize your image and use a nickname instead of your real name.

If you opt for a nickname, choose a sensible one. 'Hotand Lusty1990' or 'BigBoy1990' are not apt for most surfers no matter how funny you may think they are at the moment of registration. Do not include your age or a tell-tale to your age either, as in the above examples. People will take for granted that the number is your year of birth.

The guiding principle should be: how much would I tell a stranger if one came up to me in the street? Not much, almost certainly. Well, there could be thousands doing that in the virtual streets of social networking.

Cooking Academy- How to beat the game and become a Master Chef

By Jessy Pilken

It doesn't take much to beat the cooking academy as long as you can get through all the meals. Well, you do have to get good grades and pass exams if you want a culinary degree as well.

The mouse is used for all of your cooking tasks, from cutting to chopping to stirring and frying. If you're a fan of Cooking Mama on the Wii or DS platforms, some of these tasks will seem very familiar. You'll be grating cheese, peeling potatoes, slicing bread, chopping garlic, and sauteeing all manner of ingredients in much the same way as in Cooking Mama. To combine ingredients together, you'll be shown an obscured version of the next item needed, and must try and select the right ingredient to match.

While parts of the game are similar, the cooking academy game offers several unique tasks. A couple of them would be making burgers or ice cream cones while dodging ingredients you don't need. You will also have to separate eggs, peel lettuce leaves, and various other delicate areas. Mashing will be another part of the game to learn, which revolves around clicking on items with shadows. Oh, and don't forget about all the kneading and mixing that will need to be done to dough. There will also be food assembly tasks with crepes, spring rolls, and the ever so popular burrito. Success will be easy to find if you simply follow the directions.

The game itself is pretty easy. You will come across some exams that are a little harder, but barely. You will constantly be going from one mini-game to the next, which provides plenty of variety. Add in the fact that most of the ingredients are accurate and the cooking times are current; the cooking academy is a great way to learn. There is also a bunch of different facts for each recipe that can be extremely helpful.

We will tell you this is an easy game to beat. The majority of the people that play will be able to pass courses and exams with ease. If you have a hard time with one of them then replay it so you can increase your grade.

The cooking academy is a lot easier than Hot Dish, and it's more exciting than Family Restaurant. If you play for about 4 or 5 hours then the game can be completed. The best part is that you will probably find a few ideas for dinner along the way.

By Paul Desiv

All hidden object games are based on the idea that you must go and search for hidden items, people or pictures. An interesting plot with majestic scenery usually accompanies this goal. What I have in mind is Hidden Object Games. It may seem pretty easy to spot things or people, but in games like these you search for a person well-hidden among other people.

Occasionally, you get a task to find a well-hidden picture or to spot difference between two pictures that can look the same to you. Some games of hidden object genre set the goal of searching for a clue that will assist you in untangling a secret. The common feature of any such game is that you won't get to the next level until you have found a hidden object or a clue.

When describing hidden object games it must be mentioned that age of players is not a limit to play. All people children and adults alike can play and enjoy the games of this popular genre. There are adventure games where you need to find a lost treasure for example, or there are games where you investigate some crimes. In this case, you have to arrange the clues so they fit together. After that, you will decipher their meaning.

With the recent economic crises intensifying the life of ordinary people, it is difficult to save any part of the money earned for entertainment. The petrol prices are soaring, vacation trips are costly as well. Nevertheless, people are still looking for ways to relieve the stress of everyday living. This is where the hidden object games can help. They offer entertainment, mental stimulation, and are very cheap if not completely free.
